THERE’S plenty of fun guaranteed as the Brighouse Gala returns this weekend.
The Gala committee met last night and agreed the parade would begin at midday on Saturday – an hour earlier than previously – from Garden Road.
The gates at Wellholme Park will also open at midday.
This year’s Gala Queen is Georgina Thornton and her attendant Crystal Wheelhouse-Brown.
Attractions for the day include model trains, a dog show, falconry display, live music and food and drink.
There will be floats, marching bands, dancers, a gymnastic troop and majorettes.
The fun runs until 4pm and everyone can join in.
Peter Edwards, of the Gala committee, said: “The main attraction this year will be a falconry display with two 30 minute acts and a static display throughout the day.
“Also entertaining in the arena are the Eclipse Band, Cheervision Yorkshire, Brighouse star twirlers and the Diamond gymnastic display team and a Diamond Divas acrobatic team.”
There will be more than 80 stalls including a ducking stool, companion dog show, Rugger Ratz rugby for the young ones and Go Cycling a learning to ride free Metro sponsored event.
There will also be model train rides, donkeys and art display.
Musical entertainment will take place all day.
Admission is £ for adults.
