Happy memories of Golcar will be kept forever, thanks to a new book.
Golcar Lives is the result of a community effort to celebrate the best bits about the village.
From images of events gone by to paintings of members of the much-loved meals on wheels group, it includes mention of everything that makes Golcar special.
Susan Starr, who organises the renowned Golcar Lily Day, compiled the book, which was created after residents sent in anecdotes as part of a project.
Susan, said: “We’ve been working on it for quite some time.
“Lots of people have taken part to make this happen, including junior school children from Golcar Junior Infant And Nursery School, St John’s and Beech.
“It’s wonderful that it’s come together and it’s basically a miscellany of the village.”
Within it, she has tried to emphasise some of the aspects that distinguish Golcar from other parts of the area.
Susan said: “When I first started the festival around 10 years ago someone asked me what I thought summed up Golcar and I told them it was two things-music and food.
“Years later, I still think the same. I hope that people get as much fun out of it as I did when I was putting it all together.”
The book, priced £8.95 is on sale in Golcar and can be bought at Just Groovy, Colne Valley Museum, Renaissance 2 and the Rose and Crown.
