A SCOUT troop is celebrating its silver anniversary this year.

The 4th Huddersfield (Golcar) Scout Group turns 60 this year.

The troop was founded on July 23, 1951 by John Ripley and Reuben Linfoot.

The group set up a Cub Scout pack three years later, with Ken Stanley as leader.

Golcar Scouts have met at various sites across the village in the past 60 years, including Golcar Baptist Chapel, Knowl Bank School and Manor Road School.

The 150-strong group currently meets at Golcar Community Centre on Manor Road.

To mark the 60th anniversary year the Scouts would like to find out more about their history.

Former members interested in sharing their stories can visit http://4thgolcar.org.uk/past-members or call 01484 841192.

The troop is also planning an open day onSaturday July 23 to help people learn about Scouting in Golcar.
