STUDENTS have raised thousands of pounds to help boost two charities.

Greenhead College youngsters donned fancy dress and staged a fashion show for their annual charity day.

Their efforts during the event, held late last year, helped raise more than £2,700.

The money has been split between charities the Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Trust and the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

The trust works with soldiers who have been left emotionally or physically scarred along with families suffering from bereavement.

The hospice supports children with life-limiting conditions and their families .

Entertainment on the fundraising day included a talent show, with performances from a diverse range of acts.

Students also showed huge creativity when it came to dressing up for the occasion.

Their outfits included a fully suited and electronic Iron Man, cupcakes, a Lego man and a giant roll-on deodorant.
