A TEAM of four young Greetland designers are through to the finals of a Formula 1 competition.

Jessica Wilkinson, Lucy Van De Gevel, Penny Whiting and Eleanor Hordon all form part of Greetland Academy’s BodyRockers team.

And they’ve made it to the northern regional finals of the ‘F1 in Schools – The Jaguar Primary School Challenge’.

The year five girls have used computer aided design software to plan and produce cardboard nets which they then fold and fix into high-speed racing machines.

The cars are propelled by compressed gas cylinders and will be raced against designs from other schools. Jessica said: "It’s been a great experience for the whole team and we’re really looking forward to the finals."

The children have worked on the project with the Academy’s Director of ICT, Jonathan Pascall, who said "The BodyRockers have worked really well together and made the most of their different skills to produce a great finished product".
