A BARE bus terminus flower bed has been transformed into a riot of colour thanks to some ‘Guerrilla Gardening’.

Volunteers organised by Yetton Together took it upon themselves to brighten up the boring bed in Kirkheaton.

"One of the main issues raised by people for the Community Plan was to smarten up the centre of the village," said Yetton Together chairman, the Rev Richard Steel.

"This area has been rather neglected, so this was a great opportunity to inject a bit of colour."

And it has been noticed.

Comments from local residents have included: "Looks tons better", "so much brighter" and "from gloom to bloom."

Volunteers who helped with the project are Mike and Sue Bowyer , Mike and Sheila Firth, Keith Durkin, Eric Hutchinson, Theresa Wilby-Hood, Bev Burns, Trish Mellor and Adrian Mullaney.

Keith Durkin, co-ordinator of Yetton Together’s Food and Energy Working Group is now appealing for more volunteers to keep the area looking good and develop others.

He said: "We’re looking for ideas and help for what to do next.

"So if anyone would like to help please do get in touch."
