LINDLEY Tower Townswomen’s Guild had an illustrated talk at their latest meeting at the Salvation Army Hall in Oakes.

Guest speaker was Jean Broadbent, who talked about 19th century explorer Jean Louis Burkhardt – the first modern European to discover the rose red city of Petra in Jordan.

It was announced that the group had received a letter and certificate from The Eve Appeal. The charity raises awareness and funds for research into all gynaecological cancers. The guild raised £40 for the charity through their Make time for Tea event in March. The next meeting will be on June 6.
