THE 12 Holmfirth Harriers who made the trip up to the Newlands Valley in the Lake District on Easter Saturday were rewarded with a glorious day on the fells.

In perfect conditions for running, Holmfirth’s Tom Brunt raced around the 11½-mile circuit (3,600 feet ascent) in 1.44.39. This earned him sixth place out of the 469 runners who completed the course.

The race was won by Morgan Donnelly of Borrowdale Fellrunners in 1.35.58.

Harriers’ ladies captain Helen Berry maintained her fine form on the fells, finishing third lady (82nd overall) in 2.05.07.

First lady home was Olivia Walwyn of Altrincham, who gave several of the leading men a run for their money finishing an excellent 17th overall in 1.50.26.

All the Holmfirth finishers earned valuable points towards the club’s annual fell championship. The next race in this series is Coniston on Saturday May 2.
