HUDDERSFIELD pooches are set to have a happy Christmas this year with four out of five of their owners expected to buy them gifts.

A survey by the Retired Greyhound Trust has revealed that 81% of dog owners buy their four-legged friends Christmas presents.

Pampered pooches will also enjoy a slap-up seasonal feast, as 25% of owners feed titbits from the table to their pets.

The trust is highlighting the homeless greyhounds who will go without Christmas treats this year. It is urging dog lovers in Huddersfield to dig deep and donate to the Retired Greyhound Trust this Christmas so the charity can buy coats, food and toys for the dogs in its care at its Emley branch.

CONTACT: People should get in touch with the Emley rescue centre at Upper Woodhouse Farm, Emley, or call 01924 848121.
