Highburton and Cumberworth youngsters hit the opposition for six as they triumphed in a Kwik cricket competition.
The children were among 20 teams from 14 schools in the Shelley Pyramid sports programme.
The annual event at Skelmanthorpe Cricket Club saw teams of four boys and two girls, play three six-aside matches against each other.
In a match, players each bowled one over and batted in pairs, losing five runs for every wicket.
In the morning schools from the Kirkburton cluster competed. The schools were Highburton, Shepley, Farnley Tyas, Thurstonland, Emley and Kirkburton. The overall winners were Highburton and runners- up were Shepley First School.
In the afternoon schools from the Scissett cluster competed. The schools were Kayes, St Aidan’s, Denby, Gilthwaites, Scissett, Cumberworth and Skelmanthorpe. The winners were Cumberworth and the runners- up were Gilthwaites.
The event involved around 200 pupils who demonstrated a high level of effort, ability and team work and all children were a credit to their schools.
Special thanks were expressed to leaders from Shelley College for umpiring and scoring each match and to Skelmanthorpe Cricket Club for hosting the event.
