BEAVERS and Cubs from the Holme Valley received Bronze and Silver Awards from County Commissioner Mark Stageman at a ceremony at Dewsbury Town Hall.

In both sections these are the highest awards each Beaver and Cub can achieve for the activities which they have undertaken.

Receiving their Bronze Award were Beaver Scouts from 6th Holme Valley (Honley) Zoë Smith, twins Harry and Elliott Winterbottom and from the 5th Holme Valley (Meltham) Cameron Smith.

Silver awards were presented to Cub Scouts Charlotte Hurt, Charlotte Holmes, Jacob Mortimer, Joshua Burgin, Sam Tyas, Nathan Horvath and James Mitchell who all gained their awards with 6th Holme valley (Honley).

Unable to attend the ceremony were Bronze Award recipient Bethany Spitz and Silver Award recipients Jamie and Jordan Amey from 6th Holme Valley and Jonathan Woodall, from Meltham Cubs.

The 6th Holme Valley (Honley) Thor Pack of Cub Scouts had earlier enjoyed an evening out at a Holmfirth pantomime which also helped to raise money for local charities.

Some 21 children and five adults including leaders attended a presentation by local company Turn Again Theatre of The King’s New Clothes at The Civic Hall, Holmfirth.

All of the cubs and the audience took part in all of the fun with the cast and the pantomime written by Peter Bond and Bob Heather and directed by Lisa Kendall, was voted “absolutely brilliant” by all those who had attended.
