HUNDREDS of pupils hit a high note during two musical shows.

Children from all of the Holme Valley junior schools got together for mass musical performances at Holmfirth High School.

Organised by the Kirklees Music School, the children played instruments including samba drums, guitars and hand chimes.

The performances, watched by family and friends, took place at Holmfirth High School.

Co-ordinator Pat France said: “The children absolutely loved it and there were so many parents watching it was standing room only.

“It’s important young children get the chance to learn musical instruments and get the opportunity to perform with others too.”

On the first night the children from Wooldale, Holmfirth Junior, Upperthong and Scholes schools performed together.

They were joined by the rock band and percussion players from Holmfirth High School and students from the Holme Valley Music Centre, led by Carol Stephens.

On the second night 80 children from Netherthong and Brockholes junior schools played brass instruments together.

They were joined by children from Hade Edge and Holme junior schools on hand chimes along with guitar from Holmfirth High’s junior orchestra.
