BROCKHOLES

The Rev Tim Moore led worship at Brockholes Methodist Church when the organist was Mr Noel Clark.

A Christmas Eve candlelit carol service with readings was held at St George's Church and led by the Rev David Barnes. The choir was directed by Verena Wood and the organist was Noel Clark. The service also involved Brockholes Infant and Junior School Choir.

Parish Eucharist on Christmas Day at St George's Church was celebrated by Dean Henry Stapleton, who was assisted by Rosalind Watt. The sidesmen were Beth and Martin Dove. The readers were John Torley, Diana Kaye, Charles Kaye, Margaret Kenworthy, Kath Hinchliffe, Marianna Calmas and David Barnes.

HEPWORTH

The heavy rain couldn't dampen the spirits of revellers as they gathered in the centre of the village for the traditional carol singing accompanied by Hepworth Band on Christmas Eve. Later that night, the Rev Keith Griffin celebrated Midnight Mass at Hepworth Church. The reader was Simon Cave and the organist was Margaret Battye. The Rev Keith was back in church on Christmas morning for a family Eucharist service. The reader was Jim Selkirk, and Stella Southam led prayers. The Sunday school children were in church throughout the service, making origami angels. Musical accompaniment was by the Robertson family - mum Jane on the organ, dad Phil and daughter Rebecca on trumpets and son William on the cello. As the congregation left church after the service, the children were all handed sweets by the vicar. The congregation were reminded that the Eucharist service tomorrow, New Year's Day, will be at the later time of 11am.

HOLMBRIDGE

Christmas Eve Midnight Eucharist at St David's Church, Holmbridge, was led by the Rev Nick Heaton when lessons were read by Ian Macdonald and Ian Gold, who also assisted with the chalice. Intercessions were led by Carolyn Burley and the organist was Jean Chadwick.

The Rev Geoff Bamford led Family Eucharist on Christmas Day at St David's Church. Helen Woods administered the chalice and the organist was Eddie Purcell.

HONLEY

A service of nine lessons and carols at St Mary's Church, Honley, was led by the Rev David Barnes. Solo items were presented by the choir accompanied by Jean Chadwick and the music group accompanies by Hazel Kemp. Coffee and cakes were served afterwards.

On Christmas Eve afternoon, the Rev David Barnes led a crib service attended by parents and children.

Midnight mass at St Mary's Church was celebrated by the Rev David Barnes. The Rev Jenny Barnes gave the address and Clive Waind read the lesson. The organist was Verena Wood.

Christmas morning communion at St Mary's Church was led by the Rev David Barnes. Clive Waind read the lesson and intercession were led by Diana Griffiths. A panto version of the nativity was performed by seven members of the choir and congregation. The organist was Jean Chadwick.

UPPERTHONG

The Tuesday prayer breakfast at Upperthong was held at the home of the Dawsons.

On Christmas Eve afternoon, the annual Christingle service and nativity play were held at St John's Church Upperthong. Music was provided by the Drummond family and a collection raised £416 for the Children's Society.

Midnight mass at St John's Church was celebrated by the Rev Di Ellerton. The readers were Hilary Broadbent and Graham Dawson. Prayers were led by Sue Dawson, who also assisted with the chalice along with Bill Brown. Adam Greenhalgh was the organist.

Holy communion on Christmas morning was led by the Rev Di Ellerton, who also read the gospel, preached the sermon and was celebrant. The reader was Hilary Broadbent. Philip Broadbent assisted with the chalice. Adam Greenhalgh was the organist.

WOOLDALE

The Rev Tim Moore will conduct tomorrow’s New Year's Day service at Wooldale Methodist Church. Sue Ogden will be the organist.
