Parish communion at St George’s Church was celebrated by the Rev David Barnes, who spoke about Allowing God to have control. Martin Dove read the lesson and the server was Elizabeth Mosley. Verena Wood was the organist.

Marina Woodhead led worship at the Methodist Church when the lesson was read by Paul Grant and the pianist was Eileen Littlewood.

HOLMBRIDGE

The Camera Club viewed a presentation of prints by Christiine Widdall.

Midweek communion at St David’s Church was led by the Rev Geoff Bamford when Ian Gold read the lesson. The Monkey Business, Over 60s and Tumble Tots groups met at the church during the week. The house group met at the home of John and Becky Burdon. Ian Gold led Friday evening prayers.

Parish Eucharist for Back to Church Sunday at St David’s included the baptism of Melissa Gregor and Henry Monro. The service was conducted by the Rev Geoff Bamford. Thelma Nelson read the lesson and Helen Woods administered the chalice. Judith Roberts and Anne Littlewood led creche and junior church. Organist was Rodney Pearson.

HOLMFIRTH

The 16th Sunday after Trinity was celebrated at Holy Trinity with 8am Holy Communion. The celebrant was Rev Keith Griffin and Maureen Smelt was the reader. The service at 10.30 was Parish Eucharist and the Rev John Marsh from Emley and Flockton was the celebrant. He was assisted with the chalice by Linda Smithers. Sue Styring read from James 5 v13-end and Sue Winter led the Intercessions. John spoke about the many sides of being a Christian – what we do as Christians matter. Coffee was served after the service by Claire Armitage and Kay Booth.

HONLEY

Parish Eucharist at St Mary’s Church was led by the Rev David Barnes when Richard Hay read the lesson. Jean Chadwick led intercessions and played the organ.

St Mary’s Men’s Society met in the parish room when chairman Bill Kemp spoke about Life and Faith. During the afternoon, 40 members and friends enjoyed a meal in the church served by Pauline and John Adams and their helpers. The proceeds were for church funds.

WOOLDALE

Robert Booth led worship at the Methodist Church when Sue Ogden played the organ.
