THIS new book about Holmfirth’s history is now on sale after being formally launched by members of Holme Valley Civic Society.
The Holmfirth History Trail looks at many aspects of Holmfirth life including churches, shops and pubs, and at the 12 buildings and landmarks which have been marked with blue plaques in recent years. The society has also put together a map of the history trail, with suggested walks.
Throughout the book there are also constant reminders of the many floods which have affected the town – notably the catastrophic floods of 1777, 1852 and 1944.
The Holmfirth History Trail is priced at £3.50 and available from Holmfirth Tourist Office.
