The school welcomed ex-student and Huddersfield Town centre forward Jon Stead, and Schools Link official Andy Booth, to present a plaque to establish a school partnership link with the club.

Headteacher Mr Paul Greenough received the plaque along with members of the newly formed Sports Council as well as the school’s Sports Prefects and Sports Ambassadors.

As an official School Partner to Huddersfield Town, the school will continue to develop links with the club and work with them to provide more sporting opportunities for the students.

After the presentation, the students had the opportunity to ask Jon and Andy questions in an open forum, developing an insight into the pathway to become an elite performer and the training commitments of a professional footballer.

Jon recalled some of his time as a student, including football games at breaktime on the front courts, inter-form matches, and sitting his exams in the hall.

A school spokesman said: “We are very excited to see how the partnership develops and would like to thank Andy and Jon for coming to school to spend some time with our students”.
