A YEAR nine gymnastics student from Honley High School has recently proved her expertise by winning the Yorkshire Championships by an overall margin of four marks.

Erin McLachlan, who also recently won a place in the Scottish National Squad, has helped the team to win a bronze medal at the UK School Games in Sheffield.

Her training is funded by a local company – One 17 Design – and she is supported in her training and school work through the PE & Talented programme.

Honley High headteacher Chris Sylge said: Erin’s success is extraordinary and a real credit to her personal dedication.”

He added that it was wonderful to see talented students from his school gaining national recognition.
