Donations at double

THE HONLEY and Huddersfield branch of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research received two donations worth a total of £1,031 last month. The Honley-based charity branch received £500 from Holmfirth High School, which raised the cash on a non-uniform day, and £531 from the Royal Oak pub, Upperthong, which held a pig roast and raffle. Branch secretary Valerie Akroyd said: “It’s been a real boost getting over £1,000 out of the blue. “Last year we couldn’t do many outdoor events because the weather was too bad. It’s nice to raise the money without having to do the hard work!”
