A man has been told to hand back cash he made from drug offences. Emley resident Mark Anthony Hirst was the subject of an investigation by the Kirklees Proceeds of Crime Act Team for money laundering offences in respect of drugs. He appeared before Leeds Crown Court on December 10, 2010, where a confiscation order was granted. The total sum raised through his crimes was deemed to be £12,323.67 and he was ordered to pay the amount in full to the Courts within 28 days or face a further three months in prison.There are people living off the proceeds of crime. TYRE SLASHING ATTACKS

Clayton West villagers have had to buy many new tyres recently. In two attacks a total of 17 tyres have been slashed in the Chapel Hill, Victoria Street, Wakefield Road and Dearne Park areas. These are designed to give older people advice about bogus callers and distraction burglaries. There are also telephone numbers for the major energy providers and Yorkshire Water, as these bogus callers often pretend to be from ‘the gas board’ or ‘the water board’ in order to gain entry. IN THE DOCK

West Yorkshire Police and Crown Prosecution Service West Yorkshire are extending a new initiative aimed at boosting confidence in the criminal justice system. In The Dock has been launched to inform the public of the work of the criminal justice system across West Yorkshire. Following a risk assessment, adults given custodial sentences at the county’s crown courts will have their names, photographs, details of the crime they have committed and the court’s sentence published.
