Robert Nuttall led the Christmas Day family service at Zion Wesleyan Reform Chapel. He was assisted by Harry and Alice Peace giving the young people’s address. The Bible was read by Jeff Ramsden, Rhea Storr played the flute and the singing group sang a carol. Tomorrow morning, New Year’s Day, there will be a family service at 10.30am which will include the Christingle. There will be no evening service.
The Christmas meeting of the Skelmanthorpe Historical Society was held in the Darby and Joan Club. Each member had been invited to bring an artifact and talk about it. The consensus of opinion was that the inventory of the farm in Emley in the 1700’s was the most interesting. This was to ensure that an 18-month old child received his rightful inheritance. People shared food that they had brought along with them.The meeting was led by Martyn Wadsworth.
