WHEN you live in a place you often don’t see its tourism potential, but Huddersfield has far more attractions than you first think.

Many will be surprised that the Festival Of Light has been named as a finalist in the White Rose Awards for tourism.

Cannon Hall Farm and Cannon Hall Museum are more obvious tourist destinations yet Hinchliffe’s Farm Shop has also made it through to the finals.

It shows the range of attractions to tourists from Marsden Moor, Standedge Tunnel, Last Of The Summer Wine and Red House Museum through to the quirkier ones such as the Real Ale Trail and then businesses ranging from farm shops to curry houses.

Between them they bring people in from far and wide, boosting the town as a whole and without them the area would be a far poorer place.
