ONE Huddersfield cupcake shop has risen to the occasion and beaten hundreds and thousands of other bakeries to reach the finals of the National Cupcake Championships.

Holmfirth-based Crumbs Cupcakery is one of 50 finalists looking to take the title on Monday, August 15.

The award ceremony, which will be held at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, will see bakeries from around the country compete across a range of different awards.

The All American Cupcake from Crumbs Cupcakery, Wildspur Mill, New Mill, has been nominated for two awards including Best Presented and Best Tasting Cupcake of the Year.

Shop owner Danielle Goodhand said: “We are so excited to be selected as one of the finalists and it is an exciting prestige for me as my business goes from strength to strength.”

Finalists will be required to bring 12 identical cupcakes to the final and the winner is set to take home baking supplies.

The third annual event marks the start of National Cupcake Week, which takes place between September 12 and 18.
