More than a 100 youngsters have celebrated their graduation in North Huddersfield.

But the long road of education awaits as they have just graduated from their nurseries and will be off to start school in September.

The children who attended one of four nurseries in the Birkbees group celebrated their achievements at a ceremony complete with gowns and mortar boards.

Angie Baggley, Fixbees Day Care Manager said: “We celebrate this transition in a child’s life by hosting an event to celebrate with the child, their parents, carers and extended family.

A graduation speech is carefully prepared celebrating the child’s time spent in the setting and sharing with the parent and carers some of their child’s achievements and antics they get up to when they are not around!

“At Fixbees it was a fantastic turnout with parents, carers, grandparents, aunties and uncles invited to share with us and their children this major milestone in their child’s life.

“The weather held out (the torrential rain that followed would have certainly dampened the day) so the children were able to enjoy outdoor play before settling down to a celebratory ‘indoor’ picnic with food boxes kindly donated by McDonalds followed by the main event of the day.

Each child was presented in turn with their very own scroll, certificate, class of 2014 photograph, medal and book by the child’s key person.
