LUNG cancer remains a big killer and Huddersfield continues to have one of the poorest survival rates in the country from the disease.

Now people who believe they could have lung cancer are urged to contact their GP if they feel they have symptoms.

These include having a cough most of the time, being short of breath, coughing up blood, an ache or pain while breathing or coughing, loss of appetite, fatigue or losing weight.

The trouble is the vast majority of sufferers are smokers and may not be that in tune with their health.

Smoking will, after all, be associated with many of the symptoms of lung cancer and smokers may suffer from some of these virtually all the time.

There is, of course, an easier way to improve your chances of surviving lung cancer.

Just stop smoking.
