A martial arts and fitness centre has moved to a new site in Marsh.

The Kane Academy is now based at St James Church Hall.

It was set up by martial arts instructor Rebecca Kane, who works to inspire fitness and a healthy lifestyle.

The academy, previously based in Lockwood, is now located on the ground floor of the St James Road premises.

Rebecca has plans for the business to team up with several groups and charities to make an even bigger impact on the local community than ever before.

It hosted a talk and coffee morning for the Pernicious Anaemia Society.

The charity provides support to sufferers of the blood disorder, which is caused when the body does not make enough red blood cells due to a lack of vitamin B12. Martyn Hooper, who wrote three books about the condition, came from Wales to lead the morning.

Rebecca said: “It was extremely insightful for patients and carers of those with this medical condition. The Academy will be hosting a Yorkshire group for the charity.

“We look forward to hosting more coffee mornings and events for this and other charities at our new location. “
