THE great Newsome Junior School bake off in aid of Red Nose Day saw pupils, staff, parents and grandparents whip up a fabulous array of cakes and buns.
Between 50 and 60 children baked a selection of Brilliant Buns while the more mature bakers were asked to create a Show Stopper Cake with a huge ‘Wow! factor’.
Judging was undertaken by the school council and governor Jacqui Wallace with prizes and certificates given out.
Buns were sold off at break time and children paid £1 to wear red accessories.
In the afternoon after a Something Special assembly the cakes were sold off with the school hoping to make a couple of hundred pounds from the venture.
