THE new leaders of Kirkburton Parish Council have been elected.

Clr Richard Burton, left, was selected as the new chairman at the annual meeting. Vice-chairman will be Clr Steve Beresford, right.

Clr Burton has been a member of the council since 1995 representing his home village of Lepton.

He said: “I’m pleased to be elected to the post of chairman for the second time. The Council has achieved an awful lot over the past year at the allotments, in Kirkheaton Churchyard as well as introducing new projects such as the 1,000 Fruit Tree project and the youth engagement initiative.

“I hope that we will have another active year.”
