Kirkburton pupils have smashed the competition out of the park.

Cricketers from the village’s middle school took part in Asda’s Kwik Cricket National Finals for boys at the famous Headingley cricket ground.

Fifteen teams from far and wide travelled to Leeds to compete in the national tournament.

But it was Kirkburton Middle School who batted the best, coming out on top at the end of the day.

The finals day was attended by Richard Blakey, a former England and Yorkshire cricketer, who travelled along to support competition, sign autographs and pose for pictures with the children.
