EVERY festive season, Kirkwood Hospice asks companies throughout Kirklees to send its corporate Christmas cards to their business contacts.

Last time £14,000 was raised from the sale of these cards and this year, once again the hospice has been donated paintings by acclaimed local artist Richard Gawthorpe.

The paintings Eweletide and Kirkheaton Parish Church have been reproduced to produce two scenic cards.

Barclays Private Members’ Club in Ravensthorpe have again generously sponsored the cards, ensuring that all the money from their sale goes directly to patient care at the Dalton-based hospice.

All cards can be personalised with a company’s logo, address and its own seasonal message.

Hospice spokeswoman Jane Dutton said: “Many local companies have employees or clients whose families have had first hand experience of our services. By choosing our Christmas cards they can help to support the vital work of the hospice.”

Richard Gawthorpe has also designed a 2012 calendar using his paintings which is being sold for £4 – with all proceeds going to the hospice.

This year Kirkwood’s annual running costs are in excess of £4.2m. Only 18% of this will be funded by the local primary care trusts and central government. The support of local companies will help the hospice to raise the additional £3.5m.
