Brighouse

Go for a dip on the wildside in Brighouse. Join Robin Dalton, Julie Swift and members of the Cromwell Bottom Wildlife Group to look for the aquatic wonders that inhabit the ponds of Cromwell Bottom. Follow the toad signs from the car park. Organisers say insect repellent essential and the fun runs from 9.30am until midday and 1.30pm until 3pm on Saturday, June 8 off A 6025 Elland - Brighouse Road. Participation is £2.50 or £1.50 for Passport to Leisure holders.

An open churchyard takes place at St Mathew’s Churchyard, Lightcliffe from 1pm until 4pm. Find out more about the churchyard, join a guided walk, and take part in headstone rubbing and more. Admission is by donation and it’s organised by the Friends of St Matthew’s Churchyard.

Elland

A Summer Mountain Bike Challenge takes place in Elland on Sunday, June 16. It’s a 23 mile route starting at Elland recreation Ground, opposite Overgate Hospice. The race begins at 9am prompt with registration prior to 8.40am. Prices are £16 on day or £13 pre-registration. Proceeds go to Overgate Hospice.

Love your local library week brings plenty of fun to Elland Library from June 10-15. Activities include family history taster session, employment advice, yoga, knitting, storytime, walk, talks on local history and by Age UK, information from the Neighbourhood Team and guidance on starting your own business.
