Brighouse Art Circle hold their AGM on Thursday, June 13. It begins at 7.30pm at Waring Green Community Centre.

Thursday also sees the first local history taster session at Brighouse Library. There will be a series of two-hour local history lessons every two weeks. Calderdale Heritage Walks host a walk on Sunday, June 16, around the Hartshead Moor area with John Brooke. Heritage walks are generally two hours of fairly easy walking and are suitable for accompanied children over the age of thirteen. No need to book, just turn up and pay on the day and participation is £3. It begins at 2.15pm and meet by the Old Pack Horse on the A649, one mile east of Bailiff Bridge.

Sunday, June 16, sees the kind-hearted Elland Round Table host a 5k charity run. The men-only fun run is in aid of Kirkwood Hospice. Men of any age, from toddlers to grandparents, can take part. The run starts at 10.30am at Greenhead Park, Huddersfield. Registration is £10 for adults, £5 for ages five - 15, and free for those aged nought to four years. Visit for more details.

A Summer Mountain Bike Challenge takes place in Elland on Sunday, June 16. It’s a 23-mile route starting at Elland recreation Ground, opposite Overgate Hospice. The race begins at 9am prompt with registration prior to 8.40am. Prices are £16 on day or £13 pre-registration. Proceeds go to Overgate Hospice.

All Saints Church hosts a bring and buy at The Canon Winter Centre on Saturday, June 15, from 10am until midday.
