The Totally Locally Food and Craft Market returns to Brighouse on Saturday,August 25 from 9am. Treat yourself to some fantastic local produce and products at this thriving street market which attracts some of the region’s best food and drink suppliers and thousands of shoppers.

Research your family history in Brighouse. Calderdale Family History Society will be at the town’s library on Thursday, August 16, and again on August 21, 23, 28 and 30 from 1.30pm and 4.30pm. People can research their family past with the assistance of computers, Calderdale Church of England information, Ancestry.com searches and a wide range of books, journals and cuttings.

Brighouse Art Circle hosts a silk painting workshop at this Thursday’s meeting, with Katherine Bolton showing her skills. At August 30th’s meeting Matthew Evans demonstrates in mixed media. Art session take place at 7.30pm at Waring Green Community Centre.

Elland

On Thursday, August 16, Elland Library will host an open day, where local groups, associations and societies to will get together to celebrate what is available in their community library and in the locality. From 10.30am there will be story time, with an art exhibition, readers’ group display, local history talk on Elland from 2 pm - 4 pm, refreshments and more. Elland Parish churches host a coffee morning and bring and buy at the Canon Winter Centre on Saturday, August 18, from 10am until midday. It is open to all to attend at the centre, part of All Saints Church, Savile Road.

Rastrick

Rucksack Club members will take part in a half day walk - Sunday, August 19, leaving Rastrick St John’s Church at 1pm. The walk starts at 1.30pm from Royd Lane car park in the centre of Ripponden off the main Sowerby Bridge Ripponden Road A58. It’s 5¾-mile walk.
