Brighouse

Brighouse Art Circle hosts an afternoon outdoor meeting at the Dog and Gun, Oxenhope today, August 28 from 1pm.

Calderdale Family History Society will be at Brighouse Library today, August 28 and again on Thursday, August 30, to help people delve into their family’s history. Facilities include searchable information on 4 computers, Calderdale Church of England Churches information, Ancestry.com searches and a wide range of books, journals, cuttings etc. It runs from 1.30pm - 4.30pm today and 10am-1pm on Thursday.

Rastrick

St John’s Church, Rastrick, holds a summer concert tomorrow, August 29, at 7.30pm. It is a concert given by Aidan Edwards and Juliet Montgomery who are both studying singing at the Royal Northern College of Music. Tickets are £5 from Harrison Lord, Simply Flowers or Rycorn Foods, on the night, or online at http://www.brighousefestival.co.uk/. It is part of the Brighouse Arts Festival.

Elland

Research local history at Elland Library on Tuesday and Thursday with the help of the Greater Elland Historical Society. The research room open and manned by volunteers from 2pm-4pm today, Tuesday, and 10am-midday on Thursday.

Southowram

A coffee morning for charity will be held at Southowram Community Centre, off Law Lane next Tuesday, September 4, 10 am to 12 noon. There is no set charge but donations will go to the Calder Valley club. This event is organised by members and friends of Boothtown and Southowram Methodist Church.

Calderdale

The Northern Classic VW Show 2012 comes to the Piece Hall this Sunday,September 2, with classic vehicles and trade stands in this celebration of all things Volkswagen from 10am-4pm. Admission is free.
