THE By the Seaside exhibition runs all month at the Harrison Lord Gallery, featuring an impressive celebration of the British seaside.

CHARITY coffee mornings are held at Brighouse’s Central Methodist Church on Saturdays from 10am-noon.

A MIDSUMMER soiree takes place with musicians from Brighouse High School performing at St Martin’s Church on Friday, July 13 at 7pm. Entry for adults is £6 and for under 18s £3.


ALL Saints’ events group is holding a market stall in Halifax next month and they ask for unwanted items and good quality clothing to be donated to the Savile Road church.

ST Mary’s Choir will host a musical coffee evening in The Cross church on Wednesday, July 18, at 7.30pm. There will also be a bring and buy stall at 8.15pm.


HELP dig up the past with the Festival of Britain archaeology event. Go along to Stainland to take part in a drop-in event with the Greater Elland Historical Society and Countryside Service staff. The dig will take place at the site of the old quarryman’s cottage, near to the Red Lion pub, from 10am-12pm. There will be a simulated dig for children.

POLICE officers will meet with residents at the Partners and Communities Together Meetings (PACT) for the Greetland and Stainland Ward on Thursday, July 12, from 7.30pm. It takes place at St Andrews Church, Stainland Road, open to all.


Southowram Horticultural and Allotments Society next meets on July 25 at 8pm at the New Street Centre when final arrangements will be made for the 77th Annual Show to be held at Withinfields Primary School on August 18.

ON Thursdays, at St Anne in the Grove Church Hall, part of Southowram Church, Church Lane, they run the New Age Curling and table tennis from 1-2pm. There’s tea and coffee from 2-2.30pm and then until 3.30pm there’s dancing and table tennis. Each activity is just £3 and new members can go along to join.

THE next monthly coffee morning for charity organised by members and friends of Boothtown and Southowram Methodist Church will take place on Tuesday, August 7 between 10am and noon at Southowram community centre, off Law Lane. Donations will go to Action for Children.


JOIN a five mile leisurely walk with the Calderdale Ramblers’ tomorrow Wednesday, June 11. Meet at St. Bartholomew Church, Ripponden, at 6.30pm.

A BIG sing for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee take place in Sowerby Bridge on Saturday, July 14. Choirs from around Calderdale will sing in the event organised by Calderdale Schools Music Service and Countryside Service. It takes place at 11am at Crow Wood Park, Sowerby Bridge.
