Elland

A heritage walk takes place in Elland on Sunday, April 7. Meet David Nortcliffe for a look around this town which featured in the Domesday Book in 1086. It is one of the oldest town centres in Calderdale and walkers will see how it has developed down the centuries. Heritage walks are generally two hours of fairly easy walking and are suitable for accompanied children over the age of thirteen. No need to book, just turn up and pay on the day. It starts at 2.15pm and costs £3. Meet by Elland Parish Church notice board.

Research local history at Elland Library on Tuesday and Thursday with the help of the Greater Elland Historical Society, from 2pm-4pm today, Tuesday, and 10am-midday on Thursday.

Southowram

Southowram Methodist Tuesday Club starts its 2013 session on Tuesday, April 9 at 7pm at the New Street Centre when Judith Kay will speak on the origins of sayings.

Southowram Over Fifties' Activities (SOFA) has added three additional activities to its programme. On Mondays, you can try flower arranging at the community centre between 3pm and 4.30pm. You will need to bring your own flowers and containers but other materials are provided. On Tuesdays, Singing for Fun and New Age Kurling takes place at St Anne’s Church community rooms between 2pm and 3pm.
