HE’S the man who has helped welcome thousands of people to Huddersfield with fantastic floral displays.

Now, after half a century of brightening up the district with his gardening skills, Sandy Munro is leaving the art of bringing flower power to the town to other people.

Mr Munro is one of Huddersfield’s unsung talents, a man who has helped to ensure that the journey to work for many of us sees our spirits lifted by the sight of beautiful bulbs and blooms on the approaches to town.

Yes, he’s been part of a team who work quietly behind the scenes keeping our parks, roadside verges and roundabouts looking good.

But it is not often that we get chance to say a public thank you to any of them.

So happy retirement Mr Munro and thank you for brightening so many lives with your vision and your green fingers.
