A DECISION will be made this week on a move for one of the town’s leading companies.
Sellers Engineers wants to build a new state-of-the-art factory in Deighton which the company says would help it improve efficiency and reduce costs.
In such tough economic times an ability to compete, particular with overseas businesses, is key.
Sellers is already proving itself in overseas markets. This is one of Huddersfield’s few remaining manufacturing businesses and it is waving the flag for the town in markets in Brazil, the Middle East, China and South America.
Company chairman David Armitage is adamant that the move would offer great business opportunities for Sellers in the face of competitive conditions.
But Thursday’s planning committee could be deciding more than the future of just Sellers.
If the company was able to move then its current site at Chapel Hill would open the way for the Waterfront Quarter development which many see as an important step forward for the town. It’s a big week then for business.
