ONLY seven applications have been received by Kirklees Council to celebrate the Royal Wedding.
It seems a low number especially as the current suggestion is that two-thirds of the British population still supports the monarchy.
Times may have changed but perhaps the Royal Wedding day is an excuse for people to get to know their neighbours better.
Even if they may not be Royal fanatics, any excuse for a neighbourhood knees-up has to be a good thing.
After all, people often complain that the sense of community has been diminished in recent decades.
Perhaps it’s time to rekindle that with people holding parties to get to know their neighbours better.
And the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton could be a great excuse to start.
You never know, you might even get into the spirit of the day and realise you still think the Royal family is good for the country.
