IN just a few hours we saw the two sides to children in Huddersfield.

First the bad news after school pupils from Honley High School ripped up their text books and threw the litter out of bus windows.

It left a mile-long trail of debris from the school right into the village centre.

Even worse news. Residents living near the school said this wasn’t the first time this had happened on the final day of term.

Let’s hope this is not forgotten when school returns in September. Hopefully staff will take a strict line and make it clear to all pupils that it will not be tolerated.

After all, the youngsters responsible have slighted the school’s good name.

Now the good news. Step up the brilliant youngsters from the 6th Holme Valley cubs who then went out and cleared up every scrap of paper.

And many had the names of the wayward Honley pupils on them.

Perhaps a starting point for some action to be taken.

After all, isn’t littering an offence?
