A feast for the eyes is coming to Lindley – as it gets set to stage its first food fair.

The event takes place on Saturday, November 16 in the heart of the community at Lindley Infant School.

The Winter Food Fair will feature local suppliers selling their produce while supporting their local church at the same time.

There will be wholesome winter warmers on sale from the kitchen as well as fun and food for all ages.

The event will be opened by award-winning food expert Eric Paxman, who runs Eric’s Restaurant which is based in Lidget Street.

Organisers say that although the fair is local it will bring all the flair of a larger event.

The day at the East Street school will feature demonstrations from Hartley’s Bakers and Confectioners and Kirklees College’s catering students.

The fair will run between 10am and 4pm.

It has been organised by volunteers from St Stephen’s Parish Church.

Money raised will support the church as it continues its Building for Our Future project.

The church launched a campaign last year to raise the £230,000 it needs for essential building repairs.

Rev Rachel Firth, the vicar of Lindley, said: “I’m so excited about all the delicious food, the chance to sample and buy, to see demonstrations and enjoy it all right in the heart of Lindley.

“It’s brilliant to be able to bring together local businesses, to support them in these difficult times and to give them the opportunity to support us too.”
