YOUNGSTERS at Wilberlee Junior and Infants School got active by flexing their Ninja skills.

Sessions were held at the school by Julie Poulter from Active Bodies who ran Little Ninja workshops.

Active Bodies is a self-defence training organisation working with people of all ages in schools, sports centres and community groups in Kirklees. In schools they teach the pupils about staying safe and respect for others while raising their self-esteem.

The workshop at Wilberlee had a martial arts theme that helped children understand about self-protection and increased their perception of danger – but it was done in a fun way.

Parent Deborah Selam said: “The schoolŠ takes prideŠ working with parents and community organisations to deliver workshops and equip children with essential life skills.Š

“Active Bodies Little Ninjas demonstrates what amazing learning can happen when a forward thinking school partners with a like-minded community organisation, making their school a safe place to learn and teaching children to stay safe outside school.’’
