A YOUTH project has been given a big cash windfall.

The money will help deliver a variety of sports activities across the community.

Almondbury Youth Action Project received £2,000 from the Co-operative Community fund.

Mike Taylor, from the Almondbury Youth Action Project said: “ We are thrilled with the generous grant we have received from The Co-operative.

“We will use the funding to extend and develop our Doorstep into Sport project, such as housing estates and unused land.”

The Almondbury Youth Action Project was set up in 2002 with the main purpose of co-ordinating work with young people in the neighbourhood.

There is around £200,000 available in the region each year and the Co-operative Community fund during the November/December period have poured out £7,500 to other local projects.
