A MAN who ignored an order to stay away from his ex has appeared in court.

Darren Mooney, of Brooks Buildings in Marsh, previously admitted breaching the restraining order.

The 33-year-old also pleaded guilty to criminal damage in his cell after he was arrested by police.

Kirklees magistrates were told during his last court appearance that Mooney is subject to a restraining order until next February.

The order bans him from contacting his ex girlfriend Lisa Iredale. However Mooney ignored this on October 14 when he sent Miss Iredale text messages.

He then went to her home in Slaithwaite and was arrested by police. While he was in custody the following day, Mooney ripped pages out of the police Codes of Practice book from his cell.

He was due to be sentenced for the two offences plus a theft yesterday.

But magistrates were asked to adjourn the case so that his suitability for an alcohol treatment requirement can be assessed.

Mooney’s sentencing will now take place on November 6.

His bail conditions are not to contact Miss Iredale nor enter Spa Mill Terrace in Slaithwaite.
