A NEW nature reserve is one step closer to being completed.
Children from Birdsedge First School and staff from Leeds construction company, Wates Living Space, helped clear undergrowth at Birdsedge Nature Reserve.
The team were making way for a wheelchair-friendly path through the site off Birdsedge Lane.
Holmfirth man Steve Sellars is creating the woodland and wildlife haven for the local community to enjoy.
Steve said: “I originally embarked upon the project 10 years ago and finally it is really beginning to take shape.
“I do get overwhelmed by the amount of work required, so I couldn’t have made it to this stage without the generosity of others and I am extremely grateful to all of the different volunteers and businesses like Wates that have helped along the way.
“It’s now another step closer to what I hope will be a fantastic space for the community.”
