THANKS to all those in Mirfield who supported the Remembrance parades/services this year.
There was a particularly good turnout for the Sunday Parade, including the Army and Air Cadets, veterans, governmental and civic dignitaries, local societies and, not least, local youth organisations.
The service of Remembrance was led by the Chaplain of the Mirfield Branch of the Royal British Legion, supported by a number of local ministers. The salute on return was taken by R Barraclough, Deputy Lord Lieutenant, and a representative of the organising local British Legion.
Members of the public who came to watch or participate appeared to have increased in number this year, and the number of young people who marched and participated well outnumbered all those aged over 25!
It was a solemn, wonderful and memorable occasion; particular thanks to go the local branch of the British Legion for the organisation and to all who participated or simply came to lend their support. Those who should be remembered were done so with appropriate dignity.
It was Mirfield at its best.
