The event, organised by the Friends of Marsden Park, was held in glorious sunshine.

Visitors crammed into Marsden Park for what is now an annual tradition.

Many brought picnics and enjoyed them on the grass.

Marsden Silver Prize Yorkshire Tea Band provided the music – and that was only the start of the entertainment.

The Kismet belly dance troupe, the Bernadette Heys School of Dance and children’s entertainer The Great Lorenzo kept young and old enthralled.

There was a variety of craft stalls, a tombola, barbecue and refreshments.

Holme Valley Mountain Rescue had an information stall and there was face-painting and a bouncy castle for children.

Christine Martindale, chairman of the Friends of Marsden Park, said the gala proved another big success.

“I have had lots of positive feedback and everybody said what a fantastic day it was,” she said.

“We do this to promote the park and we want more local groups to use it to stage events.

“The Friends of Marsden Park would like to thank everyone who helped in any way to make the event such a huge success.”
