FAMILIES have been invited to a spring fair which helps raise money to preserve Huddersfield’s countryside.

The National Trust-run Marsden Moor estate is hosting the event this week to support its work.

The group maintains 2,500 hectares of moorland around the village.

The fair helps fund the estate’s restoration work, with 100 metres of path flagging costing £550.

Volunteers from Highfields Community Centre have helped grow plants which will be sold at the event.

There will also be craft stalls, children’s activities and a display by Thurlstone Owl Sanctuary at the fair, which takes place from 10am to 3pm on Sunday at the Old Goods Yard next to Marsden Railway Station.
