The Colne Valley is turning tropical, thanks to the relaunch of a ukulele club in town.

New members are welcome to join MUCIPUPS Marsden Ukulele Club as they strum away to lucky drinkers every Monday from 9pm at the New Inn, after a move out of their old rehearsal room in one member’s home. The light-hearted group, which has been together for around two years, made the move after a request from a resident on a Marsden Facebook page and hope that their new practice venue will allow them to expand.

They play all manner of hits from Johnny Cash classics to group favourite, Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival and have several gigs planned for later in the year around the area.

Founding member, Tony Sprawson said: “We first got together a couple of years ago because we realised that quite a few of us had bought ukuleles and wanted to practice together. We’ve always been open to new members but now we’re practising in the pub more people can come along and get involved. We are hoping to expand it but the main thing is that everyone enjoys playing together and has fun.”
