A MARSH company is celebrating its first birthday.

And it is hoping to give a helping hand to a local charity as part of its celebrations.

The Peapod greengrocers, based on Westbourne Road, opened last May.

It is run by former butcher Anthony Pollard, of Meltham.

Mr Pollard worked at Raymond Russell butchers in the Packhorse Centre for 13 years.

He decided to change his line of work when he spotted the Marsh business being advertised for sale in the Examiner.

As part of the shop’s birthday celebrations, it is holding a charity raffle.

First prize is a food hamper and tickets are available now.

All money raised will be donated to Marsh-based charity The Joseph Salmon Trust.

The charity provides financial support to families who have lost a child.
