Choir members have shown their support for a charity that helps people in crisis.

The singers of Marsh Ladies Choir donated a cheque for more than £500 to the Welcome Centre.

The money was raised at the choir’s charity concert, which was held at the centre’s base at Huddersfield Methodist Mission on Lord Street.

The event was held in September and featured a varied programme and musicians from Winston’s Pennine Jazz Trio.

The choir chose the Welcome Centre as its charity for this year.

Singers also collected cash as they sung carols at Whiteley’s Garden Centre in Mirfield earlier this month.

Choir chairman Hilary Robertshaw presented their cheque to head of the Welcome Centre Karen Selley before the group’s rehearsal at Lindley Methodist Centre.

The choir donated food and other commodities to the charity and will continue to give these items on a monthly basis.

The charity offers practical support, including food, toiletries, bedding, household items and warm clothes to individuals and families in crisis throughout the year.
